The whole family knows what I am talking about. Mom would spend many hours sewing us kids two dance costumes each year. That could be as many as 8 costumes over a 2 month period, which is at least 100 costumes over the years. After spending 1/6th of the year sewing, you can imagine how important it was that we perform. One year Brian, Matt, Michelle, and I came down with the chicken pox. I don't know how many prayers were said that we would somehow scab over before the performance, but Mom must must have offered many. Mom most likely would have put us on stage if were still contagious anyhow. We all made it on stage that year.
Each year, we kids hoped that our dance costumes were cute because they usually doubled as our Halloween costumes in the fall. Yes, Mom was a great seamstress and made Dance and Halloween fun.
